2008 News

March 24, 2008: IRO Nominations and Elections
      Nominations for the 2008-09 IRO E-Board will be conducted at tonight's meeting. Elections will be held next week, on March 31.

March 17, 2008: Update on Elections: Postponed
      IRO will not be doing election nominations at tonight's meeting. With the upcoming change in leadership for both MSUMUN and IRO, tonight's meeting will be dedicated to discussing what IRO members would like to see transpire between the organizations in the future. Information about the new date of elections will be emailed out to membership.

March 11, 2008: ChoMUN Awards and Election Info
      MSU IRO did very well at ChoMUN XI in Chicago on March 6-9, 2008. Congratulations to everyone on a job well done! Four delegates won awards at the conference:

Security Council - Sarah Abramson & Steve Lawson
      - Outstanding Delegate
The Great Game: Russia - Mike Mersol-Barg
      - Honorable Mention
The Great Game: UK - Hayes Brown
      - Honorable Mention

      IRO elections for the 2008-09 E-Board will be held on March 24. Nominations will be done at the March 17 meeting. If you are interested in running for one of the five E-Board positions, take a look at IRO's constitution, located under the ABOUT tab, and e-mail the E-Board if you have any questions.

February 10, 2008: ChoMUN Placement Form
      The ChoMUN Placement Form is now available under QUICK LINKS. This must be submitted by 5p.m. on Wednesday, February 13.

January 29, 2008: McMUN Awards!
      IRO has returned from McMUN 2008 with EIGHT AWARDS! Please congratulate our award winners, and all of our delegates who performed well in committee.

December 3, 2007: McMUN Placements
      The McMUN placements are now posted under QUICK LINKS.

November 24, 2007: McMUN Placement Form Posted
      The McMUN placement form is now posted under QUICK LINKS. The form is due on Saturday, December 1 at midnight.

November 19, 2007: McMUN News
      Welcome back from UPMUNC everyone, and congratulations to our TWO award winners!
      As you know, McMUN is our next conference in January. Our 55-member delegation is already full, and we will have to make cuts because so many members are interested in the conference. If you paid your first deposit ($90) before or at today's meeting, please fill out the McMUN Survey (at left, under QUICK LINKS) and tell us why you should attend McMUN.
      Additionally, the McMUN Placement matrix is posted under QUICK LINKS. We will send out an email when the placement form is posted and when it will be due.

October 22, 2007: Travel Contract
      The Travel Contract for UPMUNC is now posted under QUICK LINKS. Please print the contract, sign it, and bring it to Monday's meeting.
      The Excuse Letter for UPMUNC will be posted on the website when we receive it from the IRO advisor, and you will be emailed when it is available. This will notify professors that you will be participating in the conference from Friday-Monday.

October 9, 2007: UPMUNC Assignments + Research
      Revised UPMUNC Placements are posted under QUICK LINKS--now that you have your assignments, it's time to start researching! The RESOURCES tab is a great place to begin researching your committee and country. If you need additional help, you can email the E-Board, or come to our office hours. Noel and Hayes will be in the Case Hall computer lab (3rd floor) on Wednesday evening to provide assistance and advice. Don't forget, sample resolutions for your UPMUNC assignments are due at next week's meeting.

October 1, 2007: UPMUNC Placements Posted
      UPMUNC Placements have been made and are now posted under QUICK LINKS.

September 26, 2007: UPMUNC Placement Form
      The UPMUNC Placement Form is now up under QUICK LINKS and will be available until Sunday (September 30) at noon. All UPMUNC delegates must fill out the form with your committee and country preferences. The E-Board will meet on Sunday to make placement choices; IRO members are welcome to attend.

September 20, 2007: Simulation Information
      IRO's pre-UPMUNC simulation will be held on Monday, September 24, at 9pm in C103 Wonders (note the room change). If you have not yet signed up for the simulation, email Hayes at brownha1@msu.edu to get a country assignment. The simulation background guides are located under QUICK LINKS. You can use the resources on this website to learn more about your topic and to research your country's policies.

September 6, 2007: First Full Meeting Reminder
      IRO's first full-membership meeting (new and returning members) will be next Monday, September 10 at 9pm in 339 Case. Before Monday, don't forget to fill out the short Member questionnaire.

August 27, 2007: Member Questionnaire/Next Meeting
      Thank you to all the new members who attended tonight's meeting! Our next meeting will be in two weeks on September 10 at 9pm in 339 Case. Before the next meeting, please fill out and submit the short questionnaire under the QUICK LINKS tab--this will give us some brief information about you and your MUN experience.

August 27, 2007: New Member Meeting
