President Matt Mclaughlin opened the meeting with information concerning our upcoming Barmun conference.
Barmun - 18 Delegates - $180 -Attend beginner simulation this Sunday, 21st. Committtee preferences due 22nd Payment- $90- due 22nd/$90 due 29th Idinnerary- 26th Barmun simulation- 28th Barmun departure- October 1st Membership VP Kristi introduced some upcoming social events Tonight at 5 PM, the gang will be meeting at Chipotle for dinner together. This coming Saturday, the group with be having a jolly time tailgating starting at 9 AM before the game. If you are interested in coming, please friend Matt Mclaughlin or Krisit Schmidt on Facebook and they will be sure to invite and send you information regarding the event. Tech Ops VP Wally Pelton intelligently shared the in's and out's of this very website, ranging from the useful calendar, to the engaging forums, and various websites he'll post for increasing delegate knowledge. Conference Prep VP Matt Pitlock went over the rundown of committee basics, ranging from background guides and research to actual committee involvement and how it functions. He invited members up to test their skills in a random category debating practice. Good meeting! Kristi mentioned the upcoming social event which is to be held the 25th or 26th of April (quite possibly the final social event) at Neil and Nick's house. The theme was voted and set to be "Nautical and Hawaiian." Neil announced that MSUMUN Secretariat was filled and the first Sec meeting is at 8:00, Wednesday, in Case Hall room 330. Also, IRO's very own Griffin Graham will be the new Chief of Staff, becoming the official IRO/MSUMUN liaison. Matt Pitlock presented the Asian Carp crisis of the week and the threat it poses to Michigan's great lakes. They have no natural predators and there were whispers of a possible IRO Asian Carp fishing competition. President Matt concluded the meeting announcing that we had chosen Barmun and UPMUNC as our fall conferences and are planning on locking in our delegation spot soon. |
