Executive Board

Come meet your 2013-2014 IRO Executive Board! The E-Board is responsible for day-to-day management of MSUIRO, including planning and coordinating trips to conferences around the continent. We have some big plans for the group–it will be a great year! We were very pleased by our success last year, and are looking forward to making this year the most successful in IRO history. We would love to hear any suggestions or comments you have, so feel free to contact us. In the mean time, get to know us:

President: Chris Bourdganis

Chris Bourdganis is a senior here at Michigan State University with majors in International Relations, and Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy, through James Madison College. He also has minors in Spanish and Economics. This is his eighth and final year participating in Model United Nations and he has loved every minute of his four years with IRO. Outside of Model United Nations he loves watching TV shows start to finish on Netflix, being completely normal with friends and reading abnormal science fiction books. While he will always enjoy series like Harry Potter, he loves the authors Orson Scott Card, Isaac Asimov and David Benioff.

Vice President of Finance: Sam Herzing

Sam Herzing is a senior majoring in marketing with a minor in international business. She serves as the VP of Finance for MSUIRO, and is chiefly responsible for the fundraising and budgeting for the organization’s activities. Sam is also the Undersecretary General of Committees for MSUMUN, IRO’s sister organization. Outside of MUN, Sam works with MSU Students Consulting for Non-Profit Organizations, and is overly fond of dinosaurs and Don Draper.

Vice President of Membership: Kelsey Weyhing

Kelsey Weyhing is a Michigan State University senior studying English literature and Women’s Studies. Kelsey enjoys traveling, and has spent time in Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, and China. She is extremely excited to serve on both MSUIRO and its affiliate organization MSUMUN, for which she chaired a high school committee simulation of the 1960‘s space race last spring. Kelsey is also a member of Sigma Kappa sorority, and spends a significant amount of time studying at the local Starbucks. She enjoys creative writing, Douglas Adams, and channeling her inner Leslie Knope.

Vice President of Conference Preparation: Peter Sattler

Peter Sattler is studying International Relations and Russian as a part of the MSU Class of 2014. He works as the VPConPrep, helping IRO get ready to compete at conferences. Peter also is heavily involved in MSUMUN, the conference MSU hosts for high school students. On a more personal note, Peter loves mountains and oceans. He gets too excited about singing and Jorge Luis Borges, and is eager to tell you why the Russian genitive case is the best Russian case.

Vice President of Technology and Operations: Courtney Moeggenberg

Courtney is a senior majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies in the Social Sciences, with emphases in Business and Healthcare Administration. She serves as the VP of Technology and Operations (eloquently shortened to VP TechOps), where she maintains the website, as well as taking on the task of booking hotels, vans, and other “operational” duties for conferences. Outside of IRO, Courtney is a member of IRO’s sister organization, MSUMUN. When she isn’t doing MUN-related activities, Courtney spends most of her time cooking, hanging out with friends, wasting away her life on social media sites, or reading classic literature.
