As you are probably aware, MSU IRO travelled from our home in East Lansing, Michigan all the way to New York, New York for Columbia’s Model United Nations Conference recently. On the way to CMUNNY, our delegation pushed through the long drive, a flat tire, and being temporarily stranded in scenic Youngstown, Ohio. Despite temporarily leaving two senior IRO members and one new IRO delegate behind to repair the tire, we all arrived safely after a journey of Odyssey-like proportions and really showed Manhattan how to Sparty . . . As CMUNNY 2011 was an entirely crisis-based, our delegates experienced myriad issues, from re-enacting the Chinese Civil War to rapping their way through record deals and street fights. V.P. of Conference Preparation Jim Smith suffered the wrath of the infamous Senator Joseph McCarthy, navigating his way to a Verbal Commendation award, and delegate Erica Zentner dealt with the previously unseen issue of being unable to write within her committee, seeing as the alphabet had yet to be invented in Mycenaean times. All told, MSU IRO had a successful and enjoyable conference at CMUNNY. Congratulations to the award winners, and as always, GO GREEN.
